Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) is an MRI-based neuroimaging technique which makes it possible to estimate the location, orientation, and anisotropy of the brain’s white matter tracts.
Cilinical applications of DTI:
- Tract-specific localization of white matter lesions
- Localization of tumors in relation to the white matter tracts (infiltration, deflection, oedema, destruction)
- Localization of the main white matter tracts for neurosurgical planning
- Assessment of the white matter maturation
